Rangers have announced the signing of winger Jamie Murphy from Brighton & Hove Albion for a reported £1 million. Murphy was linked with a permanent move to Ibrox during the January transfer window, but that stalled and he eventually moved on loan as he scored five times in 19 games for the third placed Premiership side.
Speaking to the official Rangers website, Murphy said: "This club means a lot to me and it already feels like home. While disappointed we didn't complete the objectives that we set last season, I am more determined than ever to help this club to be a success."
Murphy started his career at Motherwell, spending six years with the Lanarkshire side before signing for Sheffield in 2013. He spent two years with the Blades before moving to Brighton in the summer of 2015, helping to win promotion to the Premier League last year - but fell out of favour with boss Chris Hughton making just four appearances in the league.
New Rangers manager Steven Gerrard added: "It's more good news for the club that Jamie has committed his future to us ahead of the new campaign. He had an impressive start to his Rangers career in the second half of last season and we hope to see him continue to grow at the club next season and beyond."
