Portugal have kept faith with Rangers defender Bruno Alves after he was named in their squad for this summer’s World Cup squad.
Manager Fernando Santos named his 23-man squad earlier and Alves survived the cut despite a poor season at the Ibrox side.
Alves arrived as one of Pedro Caixinha’s high profile signings last summer, but despite his wealth of experience Alves has struggled to deal with the Scottish game and to secure regular first team football.
Hamburg-bound David Bates ousted Alves from the first team with the help of Caixinha being sacked and a number of injuries picked up by the veteran.
Despite this Santos has called up Alves who has been capped 95 times for Portugal and last played in their friendly 2-1 win over Egypt in March.
